Stella is a self taught artist who started painting with Enamel on Ivorine (imitation Ivory) and Eggshells. Her first exhibitions were The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (Miniatures Section) and the Medici Gallery, London.
From these beginnings she has experimented extensively with techniques of watercolour and gouache creating a unique collection of detailed fine work which has been widely published.
Her love of nature, landscapes, water and sky influences her ideas and she has developed a very individual and recognisable style.
She has been developing new techniques with acrylics over the last few years and this has inspired a collection of landscapes and contemporary abstracts using oils and acrylics with applied gesso substrates, metal foils and 3d 'Objets d'art' that demonstrates a new freedom of expression. The public appreciation of these new developments suggests her work to be in the vanguard of new trends in interior design.
Her current range of work also include special high quality Giclee prints of some of her nature and landscape work. Stella individually handpaints each framed print with a continuation of part of the image, and therefore each framed print is unique. She also offers a select range of limited edition prints with individually hand painted frames.
Some of her previous work can be found in the section 'Previous Collections'. These styles were the mainstay of her repertoire for many years and most of those paintings are signed in her ex-marriage name of Parslow-Reading, she now signs under her maiden name of Parslow.
Stella was born in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire in 1950. Soon afterwards, her family moved to Leighton Buzzard, where she grew up and raised a family of her own. Her two children have grown up and left home, one making a career in exhibition design, the other in marketing. Her hobbies include travel, reading, swimming and her grandchildren.
